Our DNS recursors for VPS and Dedicated Server customers now include malware protection by default.

Customers using 169.197.183.2 and 169.197.183.3 do not need to make any changes. The protection is already enabled.

The DNS service blocks requests for domains that are known to distribute malware, host phishing websites, or operate command-and-control (C2) infrastructure used by malware. If a server attempts to resolve one of these known malicious domains, the DNS request is blocked.

This helps reduce the chance of a compromised application or script connecting to infrastructure that is commonly used in malware attacks. As with any security measure, it is not a replacement for keeping your server and software up to date, but it can help prevent connections to known malicious destinations.
