We are seeing a wave of scam emails being delivered through Google Calendar invitations. These messages are designed to look like invoices or payment confirmations from companies like McAfee, PayPal, Geek Squad, and others.

The scammers are abusing the Google Calendar platform to bypass normal spam filters and place fake billing notices directly into inboxes and calendars.

If you receive unexpected calendar invites claiming you were charged for antivirus software, subscriptions, or technical support services, do not call the phone number and do not interact with the invite.

At the network level we are now implementing additional filtering rules targeting abusive Google Calendar notification traffic until the abuse subsides.

Stay alert. The modern spam war is no longer limited to normal email messages.
